VISUAL INSPECTION AND PERIODIC

Inspection of bottles self-contained breathing apparatus. VISUAL INSPECTION and PERIODIC INSPECTION according to inspection procedures and tests described the technical instructions Regulation of pressure Equipment, and in the UNE standards applicable to bottles of steel, aluminum and composite.

INTERIOR CLEANING OF BOTTLES

Removal of oils and unpleasant odors. Deodorization and disinfection. SCUBA ELX has different types of cleaning, which includes a complete cleaning of all the components of your valves or fixtures, and also the replacement of all its boards theoretical.

Repair of valves and their components, such as, axles, handles, closures, caps or tubes decanters. The valves are subjected to a rigorous control for possible pores , cracks, permanent deformation, and wear and tear on the body threading,

EXTERIOR CLEANING OF BOTTLES

INSPECTION OF BOTTLES OF SCUBA DIVING

According to what is established in the ROYAL DECREE 560/2010 7 may that modifies the ROYAL DECREE 2060/2008 of 12 December, which approves the Regulation of pressure equipment and approves the Technical Inspection Complementary ITC EP-5 on bottles of respiratory equipment-self-governing, it is mandatory to pass the periodic inspection of the bottles of diving every three years and the visual inspection every year to avoid problems of security and legal.

The annual inspection has to be carried out in a Facility Inspection of Bottles of respiratory equipment-self for activities subaquatic and work in surface recognized by the Directorate General of Industry, Energy and Mines, as set out in the said Royal Decree.

Periodic inspection

The PERIODIC INSPECTION of bottles (commonly known as the retimbrado), establishes the completion of the following inspections and tests every three years:

  • Identification of the bottle, and control of recorded marks.
  • Visual inspection exterior: According to the Standard UNE en 1968:2003 includes exterior cleaning and inspection of physical defects and materials of the body, as well as corrosion in the wall of the bottle.
  • Visual inspection inside: According to the Standard UNE en 1968:2003 includes internal cleaning and inspection    physical defects and materials of the body, as well as corrosion in the wall of the bottle.
  • Inspection of the neck of the bottle and the inner thread
  • hydraulic Test for volumetric expansion
  • valve Inspection.

Visual inspection

The VISUAL INSPECTION (called “visual” by Royal Decree, even though it is not a visual inspection or much less) of bottles, sets the realization of the same inspections and tests periodic inspection, with the exception of the hydraulic test for volumetric expansion, to be made annually.

The inspection of bottles: current situation

From the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, it is recommended that the bottles of diving more than 20 years to be evicted, while the condition of the bottles will depend on the use and maintenance that have been the object. With the new regulations the cleaning of the interior of the bottle will be performed annually, as well as the repair of defects and corrosion outside.

The critical points where it builds up the corrosion on the bottles of diving are the top and bottom end of the bottle, the neck of the bottle builds up corrosion due to condensation that suffers the bottle to be opened. On the other hand, the culote of plastic that supports the bottle in an upright position accumulates saline water, which, with the passage of time affects the protective film of paint to the steel.

Internally, the water that manages to get into the bottle builds up in the background and the system of ship vertical by subjecting the bottles in the diving clubs, corrosiona the bottom of the bottle.

Any person who does not belong to an Inspection Center of Bottles must manipulate a bottle, open the crying or repair your surface.
Only a Certified Center is well-prepared in this area, with the machinery, tools, and technical specialists. It would be a recklessness to open a bottle and can cause damage to their valve or close to newton of force other than required by standard, with what provocaríamos an accident when you fill it with compressed air.

The owner of the bottle should be rinsed out the bottle and your network with fresh water, remove the culote plastic periodically to rinse it out a whole and avoid getting hit. It is recommended to carry empty bottles or 50 bars of pressure.

We must demand centers and diving clubs that the bottles have been inspected annually, for our own safety. We can see that a bottle of this revised trianualmente if in the pitched roof(top) of the bottle are cracks with:

  • The date of the last revision
  • to The Center mark of Inspection,
  • date of next review

The annual inspection is signalled with a sticker.

The Load center of bottles should reject bottles that do not have regulatory inspections. We must remember that the burden of the bottles is where we find the accidents more severe.

Legal problems in the use of bottles of diving not inspected:

a bottle of a center/diving club or a bottle particular, we are required to comply with the law, that is to say, to pass the required inspections.
In case of not doing it, can’t load that bottle in no load centre of bottles (prohibited by law), so that in case of accident, the who has charged that bottle of diving will be responsible for what happened and you will have problems.

In addition, dive insurance, set whenever a clause of “the team will be in perfect condition” which does not cover the use case of bottles dive retimbradas (inspected), with which we will not be covered by insurance in case of diving.
